Dr Rich Eddington served as an optometrist in the United States Air Force for 20 years, the last six as Chief of Optometry at Peterson AFB. He retired in 2010 at the rank of Lt Colonel. Upon his retirement, Dr Eddington decided to open a private optometry family practice on the East side of Colorado Springs, becoming the first solo private practice to open up East of Powers Blvd.
Born and raised in the beautiful Salinas Valley near Monterey, California, Dr Eddington first entered the US Army in 1976, spending 3 years as the principal euphonium player in the 84th Army Band in Stuttgart, West Germany, where he met his lovely wife, Patty.
After leaving the army, he attended Fresno State University and graduated with honors from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1989. Dr Eddington entered the Air Force in 1991 and combined with his previous army enlistment served a total of 23 years. The Eddingtons will celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary this year and have three grown children, James, Tiffany and Luke.
